On May 29-30 Ufa Eye Research Institute hosted the 15th Annual Conference on Ophthalmology 'EAST-WEST'.
This year we welcomed around 2000 attendees - ophthalmic clinicians, research scientists, medical students and residents - from all over the world. 

The meeting traditionally offered a fantastic opportunity to catch up with the latest developments in ocular surgery and clinical practice. The conference agenda included 11 Russian sessions, 3 sessions of foreign ophthalmological societies, young ophthalmologists league, live surgery broadcast and several satellite symposia.

More than 110 speakers from 12 countries (Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan, India, Tunisia, Mexico, UAE, Philippinies, Japan, Spain, Turkey and the Netherlands) shared practical solutions for enhancing diagnosis and management of glaucoma patients, treating corneal and vitreoretinal conditions, dealing with inflammations and myopia. Special attention was given to pediatric ophthalmology, organization of medical care and integrative ophthalmology - a new field of medicine that studies the onset and development of eye diseases in relation to the human body as a whole.

Live surgical demonstractions included phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantations, CLEAR lenticule extraction and vitreoretinal surgery for proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

The event took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, filled with engaging discussions and valuable insights.We look forward to welcoming guests next year for an even more remarkable experience at EAST-WEST 2026
